Terrible lies moving out
Moved in August 24, 2022 and out March 4, 2023 allowed to break lease because the apartment was in such despair to include: broken appliances never fixed, counter tops ripped my clothing walking by catching my sweaters. Scalding hot water random causing 1st degree burns on skin. The dishwasher handle broken and caused my finger to bleed more than one occasion. The cabinets are broken as well as closets. They charged me close to 200.00/month for water sewer and garbage each month for 634 square... foot carpeted apartment I was not in well more than 40 hours a week at work. My electric bill was approximately 100/every 2 months. Parking I was charged 225/month. The patio door so poorly insulated I was not able to be on that side of room in winter it was so cold. If you think you’re moving in there prepare for SWAT to bang down neighbors doors at 4 AM and the fire alarms aren’t a drill! Day before I was moving out the Seattle fire had to come out due to more broken issues in the run down building. Expect to add extra 500.00 per month to your rent on top of what their base rent is. Upon move out I got water bill 210.11. Less than week later it went to 301.01 for the same bill. They make up their math and when I tried to fix it proving with bank statements all of my emails came back undeliverable. Run far far away from any Thrive community. This one is a total dump too.

Terrible Move-Out Experience
Living here was mostly a good experience, especially once the construction ended. Great location, dated, but sufficient interiors (e.g., washing machines from the 80s that the maintenance guy said "we will replace when they fully break down"). However, this one star review is due to my ongoing experience with the move-out process.
I contacted Tony N. on Dec 3rd, 2021 about my intent to move out at the end of the December month. I had been on a month-to-month lease and decided to move out... officially once the new rates were presented. In that email I communicated my intent to not continue the lease, well before the 20 days notice they required. No response. Interestingly, my new landlords were able to contact Union Park to confirm I was a resident, so someone in management had to know I was moving out.
Trying to avoid any issues and make sure they were aware and preparing for a new listing, I followed-up again. And again. And several more times throughout the month. Several emails, several phone calls, and a longer voice message left on their listed phone number to contact them. No responses.
It is now 1/5, I am fully moved out. As far as I know, the apartment is still unlocked with the keys on the counter. I have yet to hear anything from Union Park Management, but lo and behold, I see a charge on my account for January 2022 rent.
The new rates really are not worth it, as someone who spent a lot of time browsing new apartments during the month-to-month lease, they are now overpriced and not worth the lack of service and overall quality of apartments.

Failure to Communicate or Perform
Not only were we misled about what our apartment would look like during our tour, but renovations that were promised disappeared, packages were constantly stolen so they increased fees and brought in a poorly performing package service no one likes, and to top it all off our rent got hiked ~20% over a year while they refused to even put a grill in a patio. Union Park represents corner-cutting at it's final stage. Glad we can move elsewhere now. Maybe their elevators won't break, and maybe their... emergency systems won't wake us up at 2 AM IN THE MORNING.

Shady
The staff are very friendly, but they mislead us about renovations. Scaffolding is going up, balconies are off limits, windows must be closed for privacy as construction crews demolish the outside. And they’re kicking residents out after leases expire, so the renovations will not help you. We were also assaulted right out front. Stay away.

Walkable & safe location on top of the hill
This apartment was one of the most affordable in the area when I was looking for a one-bedroom, and has a wonderful management team. They are kind, helpful and very security-conscious. They respond quickly to your maintenance requests (usually within a day) and put packages inside your apartment if you aren't home, which is awesome if you've had packages stolen from outside your door before. There aren't many amenities, but the gym is decent and always clean, and there is an outdoor... patio/garden area only accessible to those living in the building, and almost always empty and peaceful. It's an amazing location for bars, restaurants on Capitol Hill, plus about a ten minute walk to the heart of downtown. Several bus lines run within minutes of the apartment. Pro tip: ask the management about any units that have been renovated -- our apartment just got new hardwood (gorgeous) floors which we were lucky to get at the same rent price.
