Seven year resident opinion

Lived at Cedarwood apartments for seven years starting in a studio apartment and transitioning to a one-bedroom with a small dog.

One positive benefit of Cedarwood is the owner who takes an active role in responding to resident concerns, safely, and building maintenance. Cedarwood apartments are a secured access building and both the parking lot and building interior common areas have live video surveillance, which can be a deterrent for criminal activity.

One major benefit to Cedarwood is...
that it is a "smoke-free" environment, which is actively enforced.

The onsite manager is also friendly and effective at maintaining order and making sure each resident is respected.

The location is one of the best features. Living in town, but still having the sense of suburban neighborhood was great. We were able to walk to Westchester Lagoon and downtown in a matter of minutes.

Also, while we lived at Cedarwood (summer 2011 to summer 2018), it was typically very quiet, private, and the common facilities (laundry, fitness studio, interior hallways, parking lot, etc.) were well-maintained.

Final thoughts: Cedarwood apartments are well-kept, private, conveniently located, and a good value compared to Anchorages high rental market.

Life at Cedarwood Apartments

Anticipating a move to Anchorage from Southern California, in the fall of 2017, I began searching for an apartment online. I wanted an affordable studio. a secured facility with reputable management, a safe neighborhood, and a nearby bus stop. While there were many apartments available in Anchorage, most failed to meet those expectations.

Then I saw the online ad for a studio at the Cedarwood Apartment complex, on 23rd Avenue. The first photo I saw was of the outside of the building; it looked...
woodsy and inviting. The ad’s 3-D feature allowed me to take a tour inside, and I was impressed that the building was clean and free of debris. I was also amazed at the numerous “Apartment Amenities.”

So I did something I’ve never done before. I applied for the studio without actually visiting the site and meeting the manager. After my application was accepted, I paid my first month’s rent while still in California. Then I made my airline reservations.

My plane touched down in Anchorage 3 weeks later, and when I arrived at Cedarwood, I was relieved to find that everything in the complex was exactly as promised in the online ad. My studio was immaculate and smelled of fresh paint. As I settled down for the first night in my new apartment, a comforting train whistle blew, off in the distance.

I have lived here for a year now, and am proud and happy to call this place, “home!” The manager is outgoing and helpful, and has managed to find tenants who are friendly, quiet, and considerate of their neighbors. If I contact management because something needs to be repaired or replaced in my apartment, it’s usually taken care of the very next day.

I sometimes sit near the sliding glass door to my balcony, enjoying the changing sky and flyers through it, like birds and small planes. Sammy, a Black-billed Magpie, often lands on my balcony rail for a moment or two, just to say, “hello."

Great Location!

If you're looking for the perfect location with direct access to downtown, the coastal trail, and mid-town; look no further! I have lived at Cedar Wood since 2011 and am very pleased with the amenities offered. One of the most paramount benefits of Cedar Wood is that it's a non-smoking building with no exceptions. In my apartment search, I would approximate that 90% of apartments I toured in the greater-Anchorage area allow smoking and it's just not pleasant when your a non-smoker. I also enjoy... that the building is secured and both the parking lot and interior common areas are monitored with 24 hr video surveillance. Since this is a smaller building with only three floors, I find that it's a quiet and private place to seek refuge after a long day.
