Highland Pointe

I called to complain about a noise issue I’m having in my complex. It’s tenants playing music early and late at night. Mind you I’ve been here longer then all the tenants in my complex. So I called and spoke to LISA and asked “Can you remind me of Highland Pointe quiet time again?” Which is suppose to be between 10 pm to 10am(That’s what the lease I signed say at least) Just asking so I wasn’t out of place....She said “I dont know the quiet time”, like really? So I asked can you put something... out on our doors to remind the people of our quiet time because maybe they don’t know. She said yes but said it with a attitude. Beware! This is used for UAH student housing! No parking, trash everywhere, loud bass in the middle of the night, parties in the parking lot! Used to be a nice place!

Lived at Highland point from last year to the present. The apartments are nice yet the staff invade your privacy constantly. The living quarters are too close to be comfortable and neighbors are constantly prodding in your business. Not worth the price. No one should have to live under constant scrutiny when paying a ridiculous amount for rent and amenities that are not kept up. Maintenance staff is also nosey and overstepped boundaries constantly. Do not live here!

I lived at Highland Pointe from 2013-2015 and unfortunately, I highly recommend against anyone considering living there. The apartments are nice enough - although if you live in a townhouse, expect the top floor to stay above 85 degrees the entire summer regardless of the AC setting (multiple people I lived near experienced this and it was never resolved despite complaints).

However, the main caution I have against Highland Pointe is that they will try to scam you when you move out. Being a... Sealy company, I didn't expect this, so perhaps I wasn't as cautious as I should have been. We moved out and were told everything was settled. I later received notification of $1000 damage to the carpet PAST the deposit amount. We were pretty shocked at the amount, especially considering we took pretty good care of the carpet and we did a LOT of cleaning when we moved out. After all, it was just a fairly small 2 BR townhouse and not all of it was carpeted - furthermore, the carpet was spread between the top and bottom floor; seems unlikely this "damage" could have been so much.

So here came the fun part - trying to find out what happened. At first we went to the office and asked for some verification. We were told they always have pictures of this type of thing, and then they just kind of...stared at me. So I said OK, can I see the pictures? (BTW, the carpets had mysteriously ALREADY been replaced, ~1 week after move out). The lady looked surprised I asked and starting flipping through pictures on her computer, but guess what - none of our apartment. We went back on several occasions trying to get verification but never received any. Donna, the manager, actively avoided us. We would go in trying to talk with her and the ladies in the front would say she's busy. We'd call and ask to speak to her, they'd say she's there and then when we mentioned what it was about she wouldn't speak to us. Finally, they referred us to the Sealy corp. offices in Birmingham. Why would I call Birmingham to get proof about damage to an apartment in Huntsville? We called anyway and they told us to talk to the people in Huntsville. After weeks of this I gave up - if you can't provide proof, I'm not paying the bill. Now they've sent this to a collections agency. I will also be disputing this.

I moved in to Highland Pointe based off reviews on sites like this one. They need to change their approach to move-outs or they'll start seeing more stuff like this and lose business. Read More

I've lived at Highland Pointe close to six years. I still like it! The staff is nice. I would like them to do activities and offer specials to long term residents.
