The apartments may look nice in advertisements, but prospective tenants should consider the entire living experience, not just the inside of a renovated unit. When you’re paying these kinds of prices, competent management, functioning security measures, basic services, and a safe environment should be part of what you’re paying for.

As someone who regularly visits family here, I would not recommend Serra Grove under its current ownership and management. It’s disappointing because I remember… when this property had a completely different atmosphere and actually felt like a community.

One of the biggest concerns I have witnessed is the ongoing security issue with unauthorized individuals and people experincing homelessness entering and walking around the property. Serra Grove is simply not worth what they are charging. A nice-looking renovated apartment means very little when the community surrounding it is poorly managed and residents’ concerns repeatedly seem to fall on deaf ears. I would strongly encourage anyone considering moving here to look beyond the advertisements and renovated units and ask current residents what day-to-day life at this property is actually like.

One of the most disturbing ongoing problems is the constant issue of unauthorized… individuals and people experiencing homelessness entering the property. Residents have repeatedly encountered people wandering through the complex and using areas such as the pool and jacuzzi. At times, residents have felt uncomfortable simply walking between their apartments and vehicles. Residents should not have to repeatedly contact law enforcement because management has failed to adequately secure a property that is marketed and priced as a controlled-access community.

There have also been ongoing problems with gates and access, trash, amenities, construction, maintenance, and overall property management. Now residents are being notified that the water will be shut off for nine hours—from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.—with no explanation in the notice as to why, while the management office will also be closed that day. This is yet another example of the lack of communication residents have come to expect.

For the amount of money being charged to live here, residents should not have to continuously fight for basic services, functioning amenities, security, communication, and competent property management. Read More

Prospective renters: please look beyond the renovated unit you’re being shown.

Serra Grove is being advertised as a gated community with a pool, jacuzzi and other amenities, but that advertising does not reflect what current residents are actually experiencing.

The security issues here are not occasional. On a WEEKLY basis, often multiple times a week, residents deal with people experiencing homelessness walking through the halls and common areas of the complex. We have seen individuals jump… into the CLOSED pool and jacuzzi to wash themselves. There have also been incidents involving theft and trash being left around the property.

It has gotten to the point where you can be walking outside your own apartment, see someone you don’t recognize wandering through the complex, and feel like you need to hurry back into your apartment or get into your car. That is not what residents should be experiencing in a property being advertised as a “gated community.”

The parking lot gate has been broken for MONTHS. The system at the front entrance gate does not properly work either. These aren’t just cosmetic issues—they directly affect whether this is actually a secured, gated property.

Residents have repeatedly brought these concerns to management, yet they continue.

What makes it even more disrespectful is seeing the newly renovated apartments being advertised using the pool, jacuzzi and “gated community” as selling points while the people already paying rent here aren’t receiving what is being advertised.

If you’re considering one of the newly renovated apartments, don’t just look at the inside of the unit. Walk through the entire complex. Look at the gates. Ask whether they work. Ask about the pool and jacuzzi. Visit at different times. Most importantly, TALK TO CURRENT RESIDENTS.

A renovated kitchen, flooring and appliances do not make a renovated community. The existing residents deserve functioning amenities, security and responsive management too.
