Spacious character, difficult mangement
Quiet building with great character. Beautiful landscape and unique, spacious layouts. Amenities are a bit dated - quaint but difficult elevator, no frills kitchen and bathroom. Additional storage available in the garage for each unit. Located a 15 minute walk to the Caltrain stop and downtown Redwood City. The tenants are friendly, but definitely an older/family type of community. Traffic can be a bit loud on from the Whipple-Duane intersection during commute hours, but a cozy spot in a great... neighborhood.
Overall the building was great, but our only real challenge came with management. No automation - rent is paid by paper checks. And any issues that arose with noise, storage, payments, etc. were handled with some pretty absurd hostility and harassment. Given we lived directly above the manager, so we bore the worst of it, but I know we were not the only ones. We ended up moving out a month early for those reasons. If you're someone looking for a quiet place with charm, this is worth checking out. But if you're someone who uses your apartment for hosting - or just strumming a ukulele - I'd look elsewhere.
