1559 MASONIC AVENUE is a Victorian home, built in 1903. It sits at the top of Masonic Avenue in the “Ashbury... Heights” neighborhood of San Francisco, one block from Buena Vista Park and just three blocks from the Randal Junior Museum and Corona Heights Park.

The house is centrally located, convenient to Haight Street, Castro Street and the UCSF Parnassus Campus. The house is near the 33, 37 and 43 bus routes, as well as the N Judah Train and private buses to Silicon Valley.

The house was originally two units, which we converted to a single-family house when we lived there from 1974-1991. There are 5 rooms on the top floor, including the kitchen and as well as a full bath. The kitchen and one other room open onto the top floor of a three-story deck, with spectacular views.

The kitchen has a new floor, a gas range with oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and lots of cabinet and counter space.

The other four rooms have hardwood floors, and get lots of light. There are pocket doors separating two of the rooms, which allows you to have a very large living space, or two separate rooms. The living room has a working fireplace.

The stairs to the top floor have new carpeting and the stairway is lined with floor to ceiling redwood paneling.

The first floor has four rooms, plus a full bath, and two of the rooms open onto the middle level of the deck. One room is carpeted, and the other three have hardwood floors.

There is a full, unfurnished basement, with a large playroom/hobby room, and a separate laundry room with washer and gas dryer. The basement has lots of storage space, and opens into the fenced back yard.

There is parking for one car in the garage. The house has a forced air gas furnace, as well as two new gas water heaters. We have just repainted the exterior and the entire interior.

The house has an alarm system which we pay for. Tenants pay for all utilities, which includes electricity, gas, water and garbage services.
