SCAMMERS! Do not lease with equity residential!
Living here was fine at first, but the building declined a lot over the two years we were residents. Rules weren’t enforced, the hallways often smelled like dog urine, and the elevators were constantly out of service. Within the first three months of moving in, we also had issues with nearly every appliance in our unit.
CURRENT AND FUTURE RENTERS BEWARE:
The biggest issue came at move-out. Management skipped our scheduled inspection and didn’t go into the unit until after we had already left —... which immediately gave us the feeling they were setting things up to try and charge us unfairly. Sure enough, they’re now billing us for bogus charges that fall under normal wear and tear, like carpet cleaning and painting. We provided clear video and photo evidence showing the apartment was left in great condition, while their inspection photos from were low quality, shadowed, and misleading.
To make matters worse, their corporate collections rep has been threatening to send us to collections even though the charges are actively in dispute. We’ve moved out almost 2 months ago and these issues STILL HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLVED! It’s been “escalated to corporate” yet no one from corporate has followed up and the girl handling this ordeal is conveniently out of the office until the day they plan on sending us to collections over this.
Overall, we DO NOT RECOMMEND this property. DO NOT RENT WITH EQUITY APARTMENTS - they have multiple properties. The way management handles move-outs feels like a scam, and it completely ruined what was otherwise a decent living experience.
