You get what you pay for
You get what you pay for. I'm grateful to have a roof over my head, but I wanted to share my experience living here — especially for anyone moving from out of state like I did. I didn’t have time to tour in person, and the website had little to no photos, so hopefully this helps someone.
Cons:
My biggest issue is the front and back doors. I live on the back side, and the door squeaks loudly — plus, people often let it slam. It’s surprisingly loud and happens frequently.
You can hear the trash... trucks very clearly when they come through. It’s loud but only lasts about 5 minutes. (This is probably typical for most apartment complexes.)
One of the washing machines has been broken for 1–2 months now. Instead of fixing it, management is investing in converting the front office into a work-from-home space, which feels like misplaced priorities.
Monthly water shut-offs are frustrating. The latest one was on a Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., which is tough when you work from home. Even worse, the cold water in my sink still hasn’t come back on.
Pros:
Weekly pest control — which is appreciated, especially since the building is older and pests are fairly common in Chicago.
They mop the common areas regularly.
I haven’t had any issues with mail or package theft so far.
