Canalview Apartments

I have a friend that lives at Canal View Apartments in Lyons, NY and I would rather live in a tent than in this complex. To start there are not enough parking spaces for each apartment to have ONE space and those who need handicapped parking due to their health such as my friend is not being enforced. If you were to walk into my friends apartment you would think he was a chain smoker and he does not smoke nor does anyone who visits him. The smoke is from his neighbors who smoke in their... apartments. I am wondering how this is possible since HUD has banned smoking in their buildings or rather the ones they subsidize. Two doctors have sent letters to management requesting he be moved to a downstairs apartment away from smokers and that was six weeks ago to no avail. Management has completed ignored the whole situation. This gentleman is a disabled veteran who served our country and the treatment of management toward him is heinous. Not only should the tenants be smoking outside at least 25 feet away from the building but their ventilation system leaves much to be desired. I have talked to several government agencies in the last 24 hours and both have implied of other complaints regarding smoke in the buildings and ventilation. As I said I would rather live in a tent....shame on them!! Lee mas
