Renter
This complex has gone downhill. After over a year certain things come to mind. First communication with the leasing office is unreliable. They are only open 3 days a week; it's very difficult to communicate. This is not how a business should be run. Especially where people call this their home. This needs to be improved drastically before I can even begin to recommend this location. The units are also very loud. You can hear people using the restroom through the ceiling. The sound carries. Also... the family above us—we hear everything from screaming children. To stomping and running across the entire apartment for hours and slamming the toilet seat lids constantly. In our unit the countertops and other appliances will shake from how hard they jump. We have brought these noise complaints to the management and the noise continues. I could go on and on about the noise. Now it can't be all bad; you're right, maintenance requests are usually done quickly. As for the complex's exterior hallways, stairwells, the doors for the complex, and the security gates. The hallways often smell bad. The stairwells will have trash for many months at times, or even vomit, or spilled food. Sometimes delivery food will just remain in the hallways for a week, or longer. I sometimes find myself picking these things up and throwing them away. The doors for many of the hallways and stairwells are broken. They either don't shut completely, or they are just detached from the latches. A stairwell in building one has had a sound emanating from one of the appliances that has been going on for over a year; it's a very loud clicking noise. For the gates leading into the complex, some of them don't even work and haven't been working since we moved in over a year ago. They just remain unlocked at all times. The garage gates are usually broken constantly, or left open throughout the day. If they are broken, they usually remain open for multiple days. The units are outdated and are overpriced for what they are offering. You know what has changed? Rent increases. For less professional business practices and complete mismanagement of service. I bet there will be a generic response from someone from Cortland. With assurances that we can help you with your issues and lack of communication. Just take a look at the recent past reviews, and you can see nothing has changed for the better. It's time for Cortland to look at how this is being handled and address the residents concerns.
