J Harbor Park at North Point

I moved into the apartment in July 2024. At the time, the previous manager offered me a rent that was significantly higher than expected—almost equivalent to a three-bedroom unit—which I now realize may have been due to my urgency in finding a place. Since moving in, I have noticed several maintenance issues: The microwave door is broken.One knob on the dryer is missing.The dishwasher has standing dirty water and emits an unpleasant odor. This issue still remains.The refrigerator does not... produce ice.The air conditioning unit is extremely noisy when turned on. The dishwasher is also not functioning properly.The washing machine is not working. I thought that these issues had been overlooked during the move-in inspection. Last October, when it was time to renew my lease, the manager at the time sent me an email asking me to confirm. He had the wrong address, and then sent me a letter saying there would be a fine. This has been a horrible experience no emergency line ongoing problem. Nothing like being locked out of your apartment because the lock on your door malfunctioned and no one calls you back and you have to spend your own money for a locksmith waiting to be reimbursed.

Nice remote location in Reston with low traffic and great areas for trails as well as other outdoor activities. Would recommend to any new tenants who like hidden gem areas in Virginia.

Quiet hours are 11pm-7am but my neighbors scream all night long. Management hasn’t responded to my noise complaints. This has been an issue for 6 months now.

I have the opinion that the management office employees are kind people, but they are new, have not been well trained, are understaffed and overworked. Communication is lacking, difficult, and response time is too long. Info provided is often wrong, for example, on apt tour I mentioned to my roommate that she could never have a grill on her balcony and the management employee interjected an affirmative "yes, she can". I corrected and explained that county law prohibits grills on apt balconies,... yet the employee corrected me with incorrect info, stating "grill on balcony is fine". Cleaning of apartment prior to move-in was severely lacking. Move-in instructions offered were "zero". No provided move-in sheet, no verbal move-in instructions and when I asked very specific move-in questions (i.e. where does moving truck park?) the answers were vague and of zero help. BUT, It appeared that a new Manager was hired so my opinion is that he can save this office. Time will tell. Lee mas
