Beware of Move-Out Delays and Unresolved Refunds — No Response from Greystar
We moved out of this property nearly four weeks ago, and we are still waiting for a resolution on our final account balance. We paid our final rent and utilities, and we are owed a refund of our security deposit (net of any cleaning or damages). Instead, the final move-out statement incorrectly listed utility charges we already paid, claiming that we owe them money.
When we raised the issue, the leasing office staff were kind and tried to help, but the problem lies with Greystar’s accounting... and corporate support, who have been completely unresponsive for weeks. We were told that the matter was “escalated” and that we would receive an update by the end of the week — but after that promise, we were completely ghosted.
To make matters worse, we had to proactively follow up multiple times just to make sure our account wasn’t sent to collections for a charge we do not owe. The leasing team confirmed they asked the collection agency to hold off, which we appreciate — but no resident should ever have to worry about being sent to collections over a company’s internal accounting error.
It’s very disappointing that if a resident were late on payment, the property would have no hesitation in applying late fees or sending to collections, yet when the mistake is on their side, they seem to have no urgency or accountability.
Future residents should be aware that move-out billing issues can drag on for weeks with no response from Greystar, leaving you in financial limbo. Proceed with caution.
