Look for somewhere else to Rent!

I lived at Lake Shore Park for about 6 years, and I would not recommend it.

The cost does not match the quality. Rent was high, extra monthly fees were added, and the apartments did not feel properly updated or maintained. The same washers and dryers stayed in our building the entire time we lived there and broke down often.

We dealt with repeated maintenance concerns, including bathroom mold that came back shortly after being treated and dishwasher mold that was not properly addressed. We… also experienced frequent odors in the building, stolen packages, items stolen from our vehicle, and safety concerns serious enough that we installed our own cameras.

Move-out has been just as frustrating. After 6 years, we were charged for a full repaint, even though normal wear and tear should be expected after that length of tenancy. Even after disputing the charge and asking for clarification/documentation, they still insisted we pay for a full repaint.

My advice to future tenants: document everything, take photos, save every email, watch the extra fees, and carefully review your move-out charges.

New management

Ever since the new management everything has changed for the worse. Prices have gone up, they removed items that were paid for now we pay for them. Rules have changed such as NO PROPANE GRILLS. They also lied about this rule saying it's a city of Ankeny rule and there will be a fine by the city of Ankeny. It's not a rule. I contacted both the city and fire department. We will not be resigning due to how harsh the new management is.

Dog poop galore & filthy units

The staff there do not care whatsoever. Tenants do not clean up after their pets and there is pet poop in the hallways as well as piles of dog poop outside entryways. I have complained so many times. Done work orders. Called. They don’t care. And the unit had multiple plug ins that didn’t work, filthy dirty matted carpet, one washer and dryer for the entire complex. I have even found pet waste in the dryer believe it or not. And in my unit, everytime the oven is turned on, the fire detector goes… off. The staff have been rude to me from the get go and they hiked the rent up by $300 per month soon after moving in. They don’t clean up the snow, and have no cares about the tenants. Halls always smell like pot and pet waste. Walls are paper thin. Terrible place to live.

Warning

Indigo aka Hubbell is awful. I have had nothing but problems since they took over. This weekend I get to sit with a backed up kitchen sink that stinks and I cannot run my dishwasher. Yes, I reported it. A couple weekends ago I was stuck inside because of all the snow and they didn’t get a path cleared until 3:00PM and the sidewalks weren’t done until Tuesday. They have all these food gathering but yet don’t take care of the property. It was a quiet place but now they have Harley shops in garages… in the summer, loud college kids, extremely loud cars and music, abandoned vehicles. The trees are all dying which attracted me to the place. And the landscape is not taken care off. The pictures you see are very outdated. We do not have cable access unless we stream but the internet sucks and that is your ONLY option. They keep adding fees. First water,sewer, now garbage, internet, gas, etc. not worth the money. One bathroom and no laundry in the apartment. You can rent cheaper with 2 bathrooms and laundry. Place is going downhill fast. Look at the reviews for Lake Shore.

ROACHES. BE AWARE.

INFESTED. with roaches. Management WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF IT. Sent messages upon messages and it was not taken care of. Apartment was un-livable, absolutely disgusting. Would not suggest to my worst enemy.
