Do yourself a favor and don’t rent here. Parking is a complete disaster, there aren’t nearly enough spots for residents and the spaces are so tight people regularly take up multiple spots, which leads to constant towing. We also dealt with mice in our unit and the heat in the winter barely worked. We had to rely on space heaters just to keep the apartment livable.

Management is incredibly rude and dismissive when you bring up problems. Instead of helping residents, they respond with attitude... and make everything more difficult than it needs to be. The move out process was especially unpleasant and really showed how little they care about the people living there.

Overall, extremely disappointing experience and not a place I would recommend to anyone.

They don’t manage the heating system well. You can find yourself without heat multiple days. They will come and provide a temporary fix, but this issue has persisted for years. So if you like to be cold this is the place for you.

Can never find a spot on street or in lot. They can’t contain the mouse problem in our apartment at all. They do not care about residents.

The property manager is terrible. It’s hard to find parking in the evening and there is a rodent problem. If you have a social life or don’t mind paying for Ubers so you can have a parking spot move right on in. Definitely don’t try to have company over in the evening.

I am very disappointed with the owner and payment management at Hutton Lafayette Apartments at West Orange, NJ. Was charged for a NSF fee for an accidental duplicated payment that was made on the first week of April. It could have happened to anyone, really. How many times have we all hit the submit buttons numerous when you think it did not go through only to find out you were charged twice. So rather than waiving the second fee, the owner and payment management says, nope. You pay. Wow! Greed... has taken a whole new level. So to everyone else, make sure you don't make the same mistake. I mean afterall, aren't we all humans. Some upper class individuals don't think so.
