Retreat at Citygate

This is advertised as a smoke-free community, but that has not been our experience.

For several months, cigarette and marijuana smoke have been entering our unit through vents and ceiling fixtures. This happens even when the HVAC system is off, which suggests the smoke is traveling through the building structure. The odor is strong enough that it gets into our clothing, furniture, and bedding.

We have reported this multiple times, and management has acknowledged that there are residents... violating the no-smoking policy. However, the issue remains unresolved.

We were offered the option to leave, but only if we pay a 3-month lease buyout, despite the problem being caused by another tenant violating the lease.

We made multiple good-faith attempts to resolve this directly before posting this review.

This complex is OK. The amenities are great, but they obviously threw these buildings up in a hurry because the walls are thinner than paper. I can hear my neighbors conversations. I can even hear my Neighbor cough. It’s awful.
