It would be great if Greystar would consider more than property management, but community management as well. The big box store discounts are fine and good but don't foster community, nor do they foster loyalty to Greystar. What would do that is a shift in focus to resident retention over uneven rent discounts to attract new tenants. If discounts are available to get units rented, they are available to proven residents who pay their rent in a consistently timely manner and don't create noise... complaints. A focus on retention would give Greystar measurable long term gains that presently go unrealized, and leave residents feeling "like a number" instead of part of the community.
Staff on sight are good at offering welcoming interactions but with no substantive support from their employer to really build community, the results of their efforts get minimized through no fault of their own.
