Lying Property Management
We lived at Cedar Falls for 3+ years but our experience has been grossly tainted by the move-out procedures. Jotika, Heather, and the property management team make up lies about you in order to keep as much of the security deposit as possible.
In the month preceding our move-out, another resident claimed we’d let our dogs off leash and let them poop without picking it up. They served us a notice of lease violation before we got to review the footage. We had to demand the video evidence where... it was ultimately shown that both of the dogs were on leash and neither of them had even pooped. We pride ourselves on well-trained dogs and even pick up other poop on the property (for which there is a lot of). All they said was “oops, we’ll dismiss that.” The negligence was inane.
At move-out, they claimed that their maintenance staff found fleas and so they had an outside pest control treat for them. Jotika refused to provide proof other than an invoice with a $0 charge. The lease agreement does not reflect the need for flea treatment. We have regular vet visits, being helicopter dog parents. From their dental surgeon to the two different vets that we see, neither reported any flea treatment historically or current. But all of that proof was rejected due to Jotika’s greed.
She refused to work with mediation.
In hindsight, this property was entirely too expensive for peeling countertops, old appliances (but they replaced the dishwasher at least), torn vinyl floors, no AC, and thin walls (seriously, we could hear our downstairs neighbors making love every night). It’s a beautiful area, close to so many amenities, but don’t believe them when they say they’re dog friendly (they don’t even keep treats for them). I work with property managers in the evictions prevention sphere so I’ve seen some terrible tenants but really great managers that actually want to support people. AMC is not one of them. They know that these little charges are not something we have time to fight for, so they lie and tack it on, ensuring you think the move-out inspection is not worthwhile
