The Gossett on Church

Oy this is long…Had you asked me a year ago to review this property, I probably would have given it 4 stars. However, recently, things have just gotten terrible. I’ve lived here for 3.5 years and rented my apartment site unseen. When I rented it, I wasn’t made aware that my apartment was facing the main road on the ground floor. It’s technically 3rd floor but b/c the building is on a hill/bridge, the positioning causes certain higher floors to be ground level. My first apartment was AWFUL. DO... NOT RENT A UNIT FACING GEORGE L DAVIS. It is so loud I could not sleep. I tried everything; soundproofing my windows, ear plugs etc… the ceilings were also super high on this floor so there were small windows above the regular bedroom windows so you have to install super high curtains or else you’ll have light beaming into your bedroom first thing in the morning. I also had my smoke detector start chirping at like 1 am and you can’t reach it without a ladder. I called maintenance and he said he couldn’t help because the ladder they use was a 2 person job. I asked him to please figure out a way so I didn’t have to sit awake listening to that all night and he said he’d get back to me then of course never came back and didn’t answer my follow up calls. The fire alarms also would go off CONSTANTLY. After 6 months of living with that torture, I was finally able to transfer to another unit over looking the courtyard on the second floor. This was a HUGE improvement. The courtyard was peaceful. They did finally get the fire alarms under control so I’ll give them that. I loved my new apartment for so long and really found a lot of peace sitting out on my patio enjoying the courtyard but it just has continued to go down hill. We had a storm a couple years ago that caused the beautiful lights hung throughout the courtyard to fall down and they just never bothered to put them back up. They also struggle with upkeep in the courtyard. The trash has consistently been overflowing with poop bags from dogs and there are so many cigarette butts that apparently they just never bother to clean up. I brought it up to them in the office and they just kind of shrugged it off. The courtyard now just reeks of weed and smoke and people blasting music and hanging their laundry out on their patio (literally their underwear ew). We also have a terrible package service. Signing the lease was a smooth process. Winnie was a huge help and has been on top of everything. I like how responsive and efficient Gossett has been.

Overall a good apartment complex. Cons: elevator never working, no parking on the first floor, lack of people cleaning up their/their dogs messes in the hallways, and loud parties that go late in the night. All things that any apartment complex would have, though. Pros: community events, kind staff, location.

Living at the Gossett on Church has been a wonderful experience. We love being in the location where we are in the Gulch and being able to walk to everything.

Really great place to live. The downside is the amenities that are broken, that they don’t seem to fix. Like the outdoor fire place, and indoor fireplace in common space. Only two of the grills work and they have a lot of bird poop on them, they need to be cleaned. The Amazon system flex is terrible.
