Almost deadly

The fire department responded after water came through our ceiling and into our electrical panel and smoke detectors. They told us to leave the affected breakers OFF until the electrical system could be evaluated.

After they left, maintenance turned those breakers BACK ON while the panel was still wet.

Maintenance then removed the wet smoke detectors and took them.

Let me make that sequence clear:

The fire department said leave the breakers off.
Maintenance turned them back on with a wet… panel.
Maintenance removed my smoke detectors.
Then I was essentially left with “see you Monday.”

I was home with my children.

A pipe breaking is an accident. What I cannot understand is overriding the fire department’s safety instructions, re-energizing electrical equipment exposed to water, removing the devices meant to alert my family to smoke or fire, and leaving us for the weekend.

Oncor ultimately pulled the electrical meter completely.

We were left without power trying to figure out where our family was supposed to go. Instead of professional water remediation immediately arriving, the response involved towels, a Shop-Vac, fans, and later extension cords run into the apartment to power drying equipment.

An electrician later advised that the panel needed to be replaced and Sheetrock opened to verify the surrounding area and incoming wiring were dry.

Our family relocated to temporary housing. We lost food, frozen breastmilk, and had furniture, clothing, beds, and other belongings exposed to water.

We repeatedly asked about electrical safety, remediation, and when the apartment would be safe to occupy. We eventually contacted the fire marshal, city officials/code enforcement, and Oncor ourselves.

Management later offered an agreement releasing us from our lease and reimbursing “up to $1,000.” We did not sign it.

Ultimately, an office representative brought me a sealed envelope and told me it was our notice to evict/leave. I was also told not to contact the office anymore and to communicate through their attorney.

Of everything that happened, this is what prospective residents should know:

Poor Management Unsafe Property

I do not recommend Summercrest Apartments. The gates rarely work, so anyone can drive or walk in, and people from the surrounding neighborhood regularly use the pool as if they live here. Groups of kids hang out in the hallways until 2 or 3 AM. I've reported this more than once and nothing has ever been done about it.

Meanwhile, the one thing that does get enforced is towing. Over the weekend they towed a rental car that hadn't even been in the same spot for 24 hours. So residents' guests get… punished quickly, but actual security and noise problems get ignored.

If safety and management follow-through matter to you, look elsewhere.

Safety Concerns

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. There are much better and safer places to live. The gates never work, the pool is open to the public, packages get stolen off your door step, yet the answer from management is always the same sorry about your bad luck "WE DONT CARE"

Loud and Not Safe

This is the worst place in the entire city to live. You might be safer living on the street. I have had items stolen from my porch, my patio, my rental car towed because I did not add it the second it was swapped out. This is the worst experience of living conditions I have ever had. Oh and BTW the master bedroom wall, yeah it backs to the hallway where the stairs are at the people are traveling at all hours of the night as well as kids hanging out past midnight running and screaming up and down… the halls.

Dont waste your time.

Awful place to have your family, very unsafe and owner and management does not care nor do they do anything about it. This place is open to the public at all hours of the day weather you live there or not. People from Fort Worth, Cleburne, and Crowley come in park in the back or even walk over from across the street to swim in the pool. Also I have items stolen from my patio and porch. I recently was in a accident and needed a rental, well the only allow you to put two cars on with your lease… and I didn't think I needed to add my rental within 24hrs or I would be towed especially when there are vehicles that never move like the Blue SUV. But I got towed on a Saturday at midnight and walk out to go to work Monday morning to no car. I went to the office to ask to check the cameras" the office does not open till 9am" and was told it got towed to Arlington. $450 later i have the rental back and I have to remove my truck add the rental and hopefully remember to add the truck back. BTW I needed to be at a job this morning at 6am but that never happened and Ill bet they want there rent check come the 1st. Its not just about being towed, the lost money for the day, the fact that the car seat for the baby was in there and she had nothing to ride safely in to get the impounded car back.
