My living experience at Arbors of Duke has been very good. The facilities including the pool and the gym are clean and well-maintained. The building on Duke Street in Alexandria is very convenient to public parks, Old Town Alexandria, the I-395 expressway and shopping. I would recommend the Arbors of Duke Apartments.

One of my main concerns while living in this building has been the recurring issue with odors. The building does not appear to have adequate ventilation, and at times unpleasant smells enter the unit with no effective way to prevent or eliminate them. This has made the living environment uncomfortable.

I have been a resident of Arbors on Duke for years. For the most part we keep to ourselves and that is our philosophy with the management of this building as well. However, we found ourselves in need of getting needed maintenance and repairs in our unit. And this is when things took a tumble. From inflated water bills to failing to provide itemized billing for utilities, failing to process insurance paperwork that we submitted at least 10 times before either in retaliation for us bringing up… dangerous conditions or in an attempt to constructively evict us. They have also illegally raised our rent during the term of our lease. The elevator in the building is a death trap, it bounces uncontrollably at the top floor. Fire exits are constantly obstructed and the fire alarm constantly goes off in the middle of the night and the panel has had a sprinkler error for at least a year, even manual fire pull stations are broken The manager is conveniently always MIA and attempts to get issues resolved have gone unanswered. In talking with several of my neighbors, this entire ordeal is not exclusive to us. Other neighbors have already started legal proceedings against the building, and we are very close to start our own!
