Do yourself a favor and stay away
If I had to describe Camden Dulles Station Apartments the best description that I could give is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. While living there things were pretty decent, minus the crowded garage. However, things changed dramatically once we informed the leasing office that we wouldn't be renewing our lease. Camden offers a "cleaning program" to all of the residents. We initially declined, due to the condition of our apartment we felt that we could clean it ourselves. The leasing office proceeded to... send several emails informing us of the potential fees that we would incur if we decided to clean ourselves. So basically we were bullied into signing up for the program. Our lease was up on September 1st, however we vacated the premises 3 weeks prior, to move into our home. We were informed that turning in our keys on this date would lead to additional fines because it would be considered breaking the lease. Regardless of the fact that we had paid up through the remainder of the lease. To avoid the additional hassle we kept the keys. During the preliminary walkthrough, the maintenance technicisn told us that he didn't see any issues with the apartment and that our unit was slated for renovation. He also stated that, "inspecting the appliances and everything was pointless because they're going to be thrown out." Fast forward to September 1st, we're hit with a final water bill of $50. Keep in mind we moved out 3 weeks prior. When I brought this up to the leasing office, we were told that the bill isn't due to usage but rather a split between all of the residents. (Please keep this in mind if you're considering moving here because they will not tell you this upon move in). So we paid the remaining balance and turned in our keys. To our surprise, we received another bill on the 6th. The fees on the bill were for an another WATER BILL and cleaning of a stain on the carpet and two of trays on the stove. The leasing office simply talked in circles and couldn't give me a logical explanation for the addirional cleaning expenses. So what was the purpose of paying the $175?!!!!!! They also stated that the cleaning of the trays didn't leave it salvageable but isn't that considered normal wear and tear? This has been the WORST move ever. Just know that the other reviews stating all of the BS fees are legit. I'm sorry that I didn't take heed to them. Hindsight is 20 20. Do yourselves and stay away from Camden properties. They are the definition of crooks and shady practices.

Way too much & Deceptive
This place claims luxury, but it really just means not bad. The issue I have is that price is excessive for the area. The cost of living in Herndon is a little high, but this place is on the border of sterling which has a much lower cost of living index. It’s not a great location for anything specific. The worst part is the apartments are smaller than what they claim online. They are claiming a higher square footage because they provide a storage closet down the hall that you can use. The... 2brx2bath is closer to 800-900 sqr feet.
Also they claim they don’t do hidden fees, which is not true. Understand that there are around $200 worth of amenity fees that are mandatory in addition to the rent. It ends up being 2k for 2br. This would be worth it if the metro station being built here was completed, but it will not be done for a full year. Far after my lease ends.
Reason I started writing this review is because despite claiming 24 hour on call staff, they can’t deal with a car alarm. Car alarm goes off all night despite being reported. They Tow cars for parking in those spots all the time, but for whatever reason they won’t tow this car. So frustrating.

Hello q8fpm5y!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. I would love to help clarify some information for you! The pricing is based on the market for the area and the availability that we have here so pricing changes all the... time. I see that you mentioned 2 bedroom apartments between 800-900 square feet, so I am wondering if you have the correct community, as our 2 bedroom apartments are from 1045-1340 square feet. Although we do have smaller apartments available, we also have some really spacious 2 bedrooms as well! We do not charge amenity fees at all; however, we do include a few things with our rent that are talked about up front during the time in which someone tours our community to we ensure to communicate everything that come with the pricing of the apartments. This information is also on all of our pricing quotes, as well as our website, so there is nothing hidden at all.
Lastly, regarding the car alarm, this information was not called into our community or 24 hour contact center until 8:15am, and the resident was addressed at 8:20am. At that time, it was handled immediately. If we are not made aware of an issue then we can not address it; however, once made aware, it was addressed as quickly as possible. I would kindly ask that if you ever notice something like this, please call so that we can help faster!
Again, I would greatly appreciate some time to be able to discuss these issues with you in person so if you are ever available please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 703-793-9001 or SKJones@camdenliving.com, as we truly want to help and ensure that everyone is happy!
Thank you again and I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Sincerely,

Too good to be true
My Fiance and I have lived in Camden for approx. 3 months now, we moved from CA. We were in a rush to find an apartment and did not thoroughly do our research from across the country. Let me start of with the Pros: we really love the area, its safe, quiet and clean. Never had a problem with parking, the garage parking is ample of space. I love the food trucks and summer music at the garden. The managers at the leasing office are always nice, I've never had a problem with them. Now to my one big... con.
Con:
For the past two months, our mail has been stolen and opened. I've reported this to the leasing office. They have done nothing to investigate nor implement any changes. Two of my neighbors in the same building reported the same situation. Their boxes from Amazon were stolen, open and found some where near the trashcan. The leasing office informed me in future to notify them if any packages are coming that they can put in my apartment for me. Well, I did exactly that. I informed them a day before that I am suppose to receive a package Atomorrow and I will not be town & to please place it inside my apartment. What was the outcome? Stolen again! Surprise, surprise. Today, I bumped into the USPS mail man. He also informed me that he would find open boxes misplaced or tampered with. Our building operates using a key fob to access. Well half of the time, the door does not lock or someone props it open. So how reassured am I? Luckily, I have not ordered anything expensive. Camden also does not hold your packages for you. This has been my 3rd complaint. It has been a constant battle and very discouraging to know that that we pay a good chunk of rent to live "luxury" but they just shrug it off. Oh get this, they also informed me to just mail all my things to my work address?! Seriously, I can't have my mail delivered to the comfort of my own home?
I propose that they provide smart mailbox lock.
I hardly ever make negative post, but I want to inform any new comers - beware of your mail.

Lovely Experience!
Camden Dulles Station has been spectacular for a just shy of 3 years. I moved into a two bedroom apartment back in 2013 and have been loving it ever since. Where to begin? The staff - Shannon is the manager and does a wonderful job. The rest of her staff has always been very caring, helpful, and responsive. The maintenance staff is way better than any maintenance team I have ever experienced. Apartment - Nice finishes, great size, nice closets, and the view is nice as well. Building - very clean... , and the new carpet in the hallways makes such a positive difference. Nice to see that the management company is investing in the complex. Area - really cannot beat it. It is quiet, yet very convenient to shopping and eating. Price - very fair. You get what you pay for, and although Camden may be slightly higher ($50 or so to my last place) they have earned it time and time again. Service and amenity spaces alone, I am a big fan of our courtyards. Pet friendly is also a nice touch, but you do see that at most places. I like this one more mainly because of the green space available. I have recommended this community to a few of my friends in the area, and will continue to do so. thumbs up from me!

Incredibad.
Severely disappointed in the level of service, noise, unadvertised "features" and the general corporate scummery involved in renting in these type of complexes. Lived here for ~1.5 years and moved on to greener pastures.
If you do decide to rent, go for an interior apartment near the gardens.
As a note - if you're moving in towards summertime, Camden likes to have mini-concerts in the middle of the complex. You'll know though, because you can hear it from around the block - they sprung for... the speakers.

Hello Opc yqd2,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. This information is very helpful to us, and it helps us evaluate our business practices.
We are part of an Association within Dulles Station. The Association hosts... a concert series in the main quad in the summer, including food trucks and wine bars. We received a lot of positive feedback regarding this, but we do understand that this might not be a benefit for all residents. This information has helped us make the decision to talk about this with prospective residents to ensure that they only pick our location if they are looking for social events like this!
Again, we greatly appreciate your feedback, and if you ever need anything in the future please feel free to reach out to me directly and I am happy to help.
Sincerely,
Shannon Jones
