Renting at CityWalk was a mistake that I continue to suffer the consequences of months after moving out. The lack of professionalism from the on-site staff/affiliate staff is appalling and, in my experience, Essex management/corporate are not reliable. I say this because, on multiple occasions during & after my tenancy, I was forced to involve Essex customer care/regional management/corporate to address issues that on-site staff should be capable of handling, and more often than not the issues… remained unresolved; from things as minor as not having the correct number of keys for my unit to things as concerning as on-site staff entering my occupied unit without notice and despite clear and reasonable lack of consent from me (which is a violation of Washington's landlord/tenant law.) While Essex customer care was friendly and helpful in trying to mediate problems, issues still remained unresolved due to the actions of on-site staff. In situations like these, attempts to reach regional management/corporate were unsuccessful. I dealt with significant emotional stress during my tenancy due to the constant issues with this property's staff; in no way did I feel comfortable or valued as a resident. This continues to be the case even 2 months after moving out; I was forced to seek legal counsel after the property failed to return my security deposit within the time frame stated in Washington's landlord/tenant laws. I was advised of other issues that warrant further reimbursement that, so far, Essex has failed to acknowledge. I consistently paid rent on time, took great care of my unit during my tenancy, and always attempted to be kind and clear with CityWalk staff; despite this I was still regularly treated with disrespect and disregard. The company displays an inability to address issues that affect the quality of their resident's (and former resident's) lives. The serious crime in the area, excessively high utility bills, and poor sound insulation also deserve to be noted; look up reviews on ApartmentRatings.

I would not recommend renting at CityWalk or another Essex property. Essex's mission statement says 'we strive to operate our business with governing core values - integrity, fairness, accountability and an unwavering urgency.' I cannot emphasize enough that if that is their standard for service, CityWalk & the affiliated personnel failed to live up to it in all aspects. I've lived here for a year. While the staff is friendly, they're unresponsive. A simple request requires three or four follow up requests before action is taken. I know the staff is going through some changes right now, but it's really inconvenient.
