The most terrible experience I've ever had
Terrible maintenance service. They never answer your calls after the lease nor fix issues reported to their portal. Old building and things get broken often. After 2 weeks I still haven't got my leaking ceiling fixed. Dish washer and fridge have been broken more than a year.

Run down - Unsafe - no Trust Manager
We toured property. Building older run-down compared to others in SLU. Unit showed faced busy highway 99. Stained hall carpets, door buzzer doesn't work, no visitors parking but units nice with open kitchen but mini w/d and no AC.
Very loud if unit facing street or next to elevator like in hotel or near interior stairway doors.
Safety most important when moving new city for job. Asked if any crime - they said nothing to worry "now" had added guards at night. Why to stop car breakins and... bike thefts.
Our work did crime check - tons of crime included recent (25 April 2016) robbery in building when occupied, car prowl (9 April 2016) auto theft (5 April 2016).

Construction - Crime
Just moved out - New CA owners want new tenants. Posting is wrong -No fireplaces. No air conditioning. No fans, No high speed internet unless comcast. No walk in closets. No furnished units. No storage units (or the few that exist are taken).
Raising rents - no long term leases unless you move into new units for 25% more. Some units have nice views but the remodeled ones lack carpets in living rooms and are super loud for people below. click click click when walked on in heels or dogs scamper... around
1970s building with on-going under the table (no permits) units under construction for past six months with endless stream of non-english speaking construction workers wandering through the building and blocking doors open to Aurora and alley. Another construction project next to building C just started after a year dealing with one across the alley.
Run down public spaces, both the Hot tub and sauna were broken over Christmas/NY week, dirty carpets, leaking roof in stairwells and lobby. Smokers under our windows. 2 buildings face Aurora and loud so you can't open the windows but close to bus routes on Aurora & Dexter. Top of a pretty big hill so tough if you bike downtown. Difficult to have food deliveries (no place to park and buzzers don't work in two buildings)
Problems with homeless camp across the street, sleeping & peeing in stairwells, car break ins and thefts common (gotten better with new night guards) in neighborhood and if you park on the street (vs $145 car parking) you will get hit. Check crime map. NO visitor parking and 2 of 3 buildings don't have anyplace for delivery trucks to move (in/out). Poor package notifications.
Constant churn in front office - requires 3 staff? Focused on renting new units vs current tenants. New Manager is "snotty" and not a good cultural fit for Seattle. Put current tenants first.
There are tons and tons of newer, safer apartments in South Lake Union with staff that respect tenants.

Older building with new owners
You almost get what you pay for.
An older group of 3 building (so the carperts in the halls are old but the units are average but not competitive with other newer buildings on Dexter) between Aurora and Dexter half of the units have a great view but the others face Highway 99 and there is a fair amount of crime in the parking garages (multiple cars broken into in December alone just as we were moving out)and lots of turn-over in the cheaper units. You rarely hear your neighbors next to you but... you will hear them walking on the ceiling or out on the decks late into the night. It is a nice mix of urban professionals with a few 20 somethings packed into units 3 at a time but the growing Amazon presence has made it far less friendly (no eye contact) .
The A building has a nice lobby but B and C face Aurora so there is no way for friends to park and enter easily but the front office in A will accept packages. The south facing units get very hot in the summer and the listing is wrong there is NO air conditioning.
The new owners from California seem very confused despite 3 people in the front office and the billing was wrong in both Nov and December. They also cut the maintenance staff in half (he works hard though) and the garbage is often overflowing both in the building chutes and in the garage. Their wanted to raise our rents but with less services than the former national chain had and tons of new apartments at the same price we moved to Wallingford.
BTW the 5 star review below is for an apartment in Wisconsin since there is no outdoor pool or lake.
