Managed poorly do not rent here!
I would not recommend renting from Summerwell Peoria Place based on my experience.
My wife and I completed the leasing process, signed the lease, secured renters insurance, scheduled our move, hired movers, rented equipment, and paid thousands of dollars in moving expenses. Our belongings had already been shipped to Arizona, and we were scheduled to take possession of the home.
The day before our move-in, we were informed there was an issue involving their third-party insurance vendor. My... insurance company immediately updated the interested party information and confirmed the change had been submitted. I was told it could take up to two business days for the updated declaration page to be generated, but despite the issue being addressed, Summerwell would not allow us to move in as scheduled.
By that point, it was too late to stop the move. We had already spent over $4,000 shipping our belongings to Arizona through PODS, paid approximately $900 to movers in Arizona, another $755 to have our POD loaded in Georgia, along with truck rental, hotel, and rental car expenses. We were left living out of boxes because of a documentation issue that was already being resolved.
When I went to the leasing office seeking a solution, I was told to leave after expressing my frustration over the situation. Shortly afterward, my wife—not me—received a phone call claiming I had become angry and that staff felt threatened. I strongly disagree with that characterization. I was frustrated by the circumstances and the financial impact, but I never threatened anyone. During that same call, my wife was also asked if she would like to come visit the property after I had already left, based on the claim that I had become angry.
The homes themselves may be attractive, but a beautiful property cannot make up for poor communication, inflexible decision-making, and the way we were treated during one of the most stressful moments of our move. I hope future prospective residents carefully consider how issues may be handled if something unexpected arises during the leasing process.
