the most stressful rental experiences I have ever had
My experience started out reasonably well, but over time became one of the most stressful rental experiences I’ve had. For over six months, I dealt with recurring water intrusion, repeated repairs, ongoing disruptions, and flooring issues that took months to resolve.
During that time, I also experienced persistent pest problems, including flies, fleas, and cockroaches. Multiple contractors commented on how exceptionally clean and well-maintained my apartment was, making it clear that... housekeeping was not the source of the issue. Despite repeated requests for help, solutions were temporary and failed to address the root cause.
I also dealt with cigarette smoke regularly entering my apartment from neighboring units. The odor became so strong that guests assumed I smoked, despite being a non-smoker.
What frustrated me most was the difference in accountability. After experiencing a job change and a death in my family, I was only a few days late on rent and was immediately faced with substantial late fees and legal costs. Yet when I reported habitability, maintenance, and sanitation concerns, responses were often delayed, unresolved, or closed without meaningful resolution.
If I had read a review like this before moving in, I would have made a different decision. Prospective renters should carefully consider how management responds when serious maintenance and quality-of-life issues arise.
