Albany Terrace Apartments

Albany Terrance should more likely be called a Senior Survivalist Bootcamp-

This CHA Senior building is where seniors go to learn to live, survive and try to find happiness in their last years whilst living among Mice, Roaches, Gnats, Bed Bugs, Broken Elevators, Inoperable Laundry Machines, frequent bouts of No Hot Water, and a general lack of concern for residents' comfort and peace of mind.

The building has only 2 elevators to service over 300 apartments, usually, only 1 elevator is working... and requires residents to wait up to 25 minutes just to leave the building.- (They removed all the benches at the elevator making the wait hazardous for the frail residents).

Do you want to wash your clothes and linens? Forget it! The building has only one residential (not commercial sized) washer and dryer on each floor and they are all broken except for 4 varying floors.

So picture this... you go to do a load of laundry, you wait 25 minutes for the elevator to take you up to the 13th floor to use the washing machine, You have to stand there to wait until the load is done because they have removed all the benches for the elderly to sit on because of social distancing. After the load completes, you wait another 20 minutes for the elevator to take you to the 4th floor to use the dryer. Stand another 45 minutes till the load dries, then, wait 15 minutes for the elevator to take you back to your apartment.

Let's do the math... Your 80-year-old senior mother, who has arthritis and back problems has had to endure standing and waiting for 2 hours to complete one load of wash. If she hasn't passed out by now, maybe she will get up the nerve and strength to try that all over again when she has to wash her linen--- or better yet, maybe she has been so traumatized that she decides to just NOT wash clothes and linen at all and her apartment becomes more prone to the vermin that occupy the apartment building. This apartment has no climate control system because the Thermostat does not work. Also the closet spaces are too small.
