Union West - Bad Staff, Great Location
Union West went into a serious decline after being purchased by Greystar. The management and leasing team was one of the most unorganized and non-communicative front office that I've seen in a long time.
-Elevators were constantly broken for extended periods of time - upwards of 4 months at one given time (with zero communication on timelines)
-The front desk concierge staff they brought on was unfriendly/unprofessional (constantly taking calls on speaker/FaceTime, asked my family/friends to... wait until a tenant came so they can be let up...if they "had" to get up, it was met with attitude and eye rolls.
-Their management/leasing team was never present in the lobby/their office and when they were, often tried to avoid any/all communication or eye contact .
During my move-out there was no one to be found, there was zero communication on a checklist/day-of expectation, and zero follow up in the days after my move. They never communicated that a final bill was going to be sent, never called or emailed to tell me a balance was due until I was contacted by a collections agency for a "past due bill" I had no information about. When I called them, all history of my file had been "removed" from their files, I had to follow up multiple times before hearing from them, and Greystar had no information to provide. No apologies no explanation, just a notice from a collections agency. For having lived there for 3-3.5 years, it felt like I was more of burden to them than a tenant.
If you're looking for a place to live in the West Loop, there are far better options, at a similar or less price point with friendlier and more professional. Their leadership team spends more time making excuses than finding actionable solutions.
