Devon Park Apartments

The living space is fine and spacious but Managment is a joke. I’ve emailed and called many times but they have been ignored. The rent raised by $60 and nothing changed, it’s still the same crappy parking, $4 laundry, awful management and maintenance. The neighbors are cool though.

This place is absolute garbage. Do not be fooled by the price because it is not worth it. The pool is trash and not well kept. Literally just no filter or cleanliness at all. Also, what kind of place does not offer chairs at a pool?! The actual apartment is so outdated and they didn't even paint or fix our place up before we moved in. The walls are paper thin so you can hear anything and everything from all the obnoxious neighbors. The basement storage area is just awful! The laundry room is... disgusting and the washer and dryers barely work. They have new management constantly because nobody wants to take care of these dump apartments. The "air conditioning" units are a complete joke and if you live on a top floor, good luck in the summer. Honestly, the complex needs to be torn down to let something decent be built. The apartments are on the bigger side for the amount you pay, especially in Royal Oak. So thats nice, but they are outdated, not kept up with and need maintenance. Its a quiet are, there's new management this year and they definitely dont keep up with the pool like the previous management did. For now it works but my boyfriend and I would like to get out of there and find a nicer place in Royal Oak!

This is a good apartment complex, especially for how cheap it is. It's in the middle of a nice, quiet neighborhood and is a quick 15 minute drive from downtown Royal Oak. Besides the pool needing a little filter work, the grounds are generally well kept. Just make sure your storage unit can't be bent open while the lock is on it, otherwise you might want to use a chain. Besides a little thievery from my storage unit, I've never felt unsafe here. Plenty of free parking spaces too.

Devon Park Apartment has recently gone through a new management change and it has not been good. It takes weeks for maintance calls to finally be fixed. The Pool did not open up until mid JULY this year! Summer is almost over and they just opened the pool, which is most full of leaves always dirty. The pool is basically a concret hole filled with water in the middle of the apartment complex for all the people living around you to stare outside their window at you in the pool. I have came across... several RATS while walking into my building from my car. I understand this is the city, but huge rats by my doorstep or ran over dead ones in parking lot is not OK! The apartments themselves are not clean and walls are all stained yellow. For some unknown reason there is 2 doors to each apartment but you can only use 1, the other door has a 1 way door handle only works from inside. The walls are very thin. I can hear and smell everything my neighbors are doing and cooking. The price of the apartment explains is a little under 700 for a 1 bedroom and I feel it is way too high for the quality you get from Devon Park.
