Grandfather Mountain State Park is a 10-minute drive, Grandfather Golf and Country Club is a 12-minute drive, and Sugar Creek Gem Mine is a 9-minute drive. Lees-McRae College is 16 minutes away. The neighborhood is easily accessible by car, with designated parking available for guests. Avery County Transportation Services provide shuttle service to nearby towns and attractions.
The building does not have a ski lift, but it is conveniently located next to the slopes. A complimentary shuttle operates on demand to nearby Sugar Ski. On-site parking is only available when the shuttle is not operating. During winter months, 4WD or AWD vehicles are mandatory for accessing Grousemoor Road leading up to Sugartop, enforced by the Sugar Mountain Police Department. Sugar Top Resort does not feature ski-in/ski-out access. The primary guest must be at least 21 years old.
