My Review
I lived on the 3rd floor in a 2 bedroom unit with my son. Started out ok but then we started hearing thumps and banging sounds intermittently throughout the day. This was somewhat tolerable with adding fans and white noise but then during the winter months started feeling the floor vibrating and moving when sitting on the couch like someone was kicking the floor. When I was in bed, I could feel the bed moving from the pulsing below so it was hard to sleep. Reported this to local management who... eventually worked with me to move me to another unit after a lot of back and forth discussions and sleepless nights.
I ended up moving to a one bedroom when my son decided to move out because he hated it here so much. The only one bedroom they had available in the same building was a unit right next to the building entry door. Did not think anything about that at the time so took the unit to make my move easier in the same building. Moved all my stuff and thought the nightmare was finally over and could get some peace and quiet along with sleep but was I wrong. This unit is 10x worse than the other one. My floor doesn’t shake anymore but all day and night I hear thumps and bangs randomly along with the horrible entry door to the building sounding like a gunshot going off anytime someone comes in or out which is constantly.
Reported the entry door issue to them and their corporate office who basically sent me canned responses. Asked local management to see if they can fix the entry door at least but was told the door is functioning normally. It’s sound is not normal but was also told that I am just noise sensitive. I asked to be let out of the lease early because I cannot sleep even with the background noise on my TVs and was told they would not let me out without penalty which is absolutely disgusting because these issues are no fault of my own and due to the poor construction and design of this complex. I don’t know if others have had these issues and it may be better depending on where in the buildings you reside but I would say never ever rent the units next to any building entry or parking lot 1st floor due to car doors slamming.
The positives are friendly staff and location of the complex. Other than that, worst place I have ever lived and mainly due to the torturous noises. I have lived in other apartments and never had these noise issues. Be wary and ask for a clause in your contract to be able to get out if you have these same issues or do not rent here.

Property Manager at The Hickory at Indian Lake Village responded to this review
Hi John,
We appreciate the thoroughness of leaving this review on all of the available platforms, and we thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that noise concerns impacted your comfort in our community.... Our team did respond to the reports regarding the sounds in the original apartment and conducted inspections, but unfortunately we were unable to replicate or identify the source of the noises during those visits. In an effort to help improve the situation, we worked with you on a transfer to another apartment within the community.
We also want to clarify that we were not aware your son was unhappy living here, and our understanding was that his move was related to relocating out of state for personal reasons unrelated to the property itself.
We understand that everyone experiences apartment living differently, especially when it comes to noise sensitivity and location within a building. While the entry door was inspected and determined to be functioning properly, we appreciate your feedback regarding the sound levels and overall experience. We are glad to hear you had positive interactions with our staff and enjoyed the location of the community.
We sincerely wish you all the best moving forward and appreciate the opportunity to have had you as a resident.
