Three Years of Frustration: Poor Maintenance and Questionable Charges
My family lived at Beaumont Place for nearly three years, and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing.
From the beginning, there were issues. During our move-in, I had an unpleasant interaction with a maintenance manager named Matthew. When I politely asked that shoes be removed before entering my apartment, the interaction became unprofessional and left a very negative first impression.
The maintenance department was one of the biggest frustrations throughout our tenancy. Staff... frequently changed, and many issues were never properly resolved. We experienced an ongoing mold/moisture issue in our bathroom, and as a parent of young children, I was very concerned about the potential health effects. Maintenance came to the apartment numerous times, yet the root cause was never properly identified or fixed for a long period of time.
Another ongoing issue was the washer and dryer in our unit. The washing machine consistently failed to clean our clothes properly, and the dryer also performed poorly. I reported these issues multiple times over the years and repeatedly requested that the appliances be repaired or replaced. Despite numerous requests, nothing was done, and we were left dealing with the same problem throughout our tenancy.
We also had damaged blinds that were already an issue. We were told they would be replaced, then told we might be charged, then nothing happened. The replacements were repeatedly delayed or forgotten altogether.
What has been most disappointing is the move-out process. We left the apartment thoroughly cleaned, yet we were presented with significant damage charges that were not clearly explained. Many of the issues they are attempting to charge for existed before our tenancy, and I have photographs and email records documenting the condition of the apartment when we moved in.
I would strongly encourage prospective tenants to carefully document everything at move-in, keep all emails, and take detailed photographs of the unit. Those records may become very important later.
Based on my experience, management was often slow to address concerns, maintenance issues remained unresolved for extended periods, and communication was inconsistent. I rarely leave negative reviews, but after nearly three years at this property, I feel other renters should be aware of these issues before signing a lease.
