Gilbert Square Apartments

There is absolutely no closet space in these apartments, no pantry, just a small closet in the bedroom and in the bathroom a closet with a huge water heater or whatever it is that takes up all the space. I personally do not have cockroaches in my apartment. A drawer in my kitchen has been broken ever since i moved in and i called maintenance and the guy came and drilled some nails in it and it looks worse than it did before and is still broken and wont close. There was a leak in the hallway by... the bathroom and i was constantly told it was because i use the A/C and it “struggles” when in use and its below 50 degrees outside. As if its my fault there is a faulty A/C and i shouldnt use it to avoid a leak. There is also now a missing panel where the leak was (leak was fixed) i was told to call the office to get a new panel but suddenly they dont ever answer my calls anymore. I did already provide a 60 day notice to vacate, coincidence? Not sure.. There is exposed wires where the panel is missing and plenty of dust. Luckily I am moving in about a month and hopefully even sooner because of the exposed wires. Even yet the panel could have fallen on one of my children that are learning how to walk. Read More

The apartments themselves are in extremely bad shape. The floors creak and randomly vibrate at certain places in the apartment. Poor maintenance of the property doesn't help, in addition to staff that don't seem to care. I submitted a work order for a smoke detector issue, and nobody got back to me for two weeks, and when they did, they never looked at it and marked the issue as fixed for no reason. Trash everywhere around the property. I admit by staying here I'm overpaying BIG TIME for the... lack of actual quality I'm getting for my money. Pet restrictions don't help either. The weight limit for dogs is way too low, and the restrictive breed list is absurdly long. Definitely planning on moving out and getting another place. Read More

...if you like having your mail stolen from the mailbox, broken washing machines, drug-addict neighbors, and rude/unprofessional office staff, then by all means, apply here. Otherwise, find somewhere else

I applied here, was immediately approved. It took several days of phone calls and emails after my approval to get any type of response from the office staff. Since I work full time I could not drive down to the property everyday to check the status of my lease preparation. I was waiting DAYS past my move in date for my lease to be ready. I had promptly paid a $100 holding fee which I was told was fully refundable. I had no option but to move elsewhere when my lease was not prepared by the time I... needed to move. I also checked with Mesa PD after being told by office staff how "safe" this complex is. I was told by Mesa PD that police are called to this property at least daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I was also told its not a safe place to live. The officers I asked knew the property as soon as I told them the address.

After moving elsewhere I have contacted the local office and corporate mgmt several times with NO RESPONSE. This is very unprofessional, not a way to do business. Do not trust the office staff who tell you the holding deposit is refundable. They lied to me, stole my $100 and thankfully I did not move in these ghetto managed apartments! Read More

As our first apartment, my husband and I have felt warm and comfortable! And as poor college students, the rent isn't terrible. We have had a few problems, but management has been very quick to fix them!
