Don’t lease here!!!!
I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed with our experience at The Barrett, and honestly I wish I didn’t have to write a review like this. There are things we like about the property itself — the building and amenities are nice — but the way management and maintenance treat residents has been incredibly disrespectful and stressful.
We have been without air conditioning for about three weeks. The temperature inside our apartment has reached 85°F, and sometimes it feels even hotter, especially... when we cook. At this point it’s honestly more comfortable to be outside than inside our own home.
The most upsetting part is that we have a five-month-old baby, and she has been waking up soaking wet in sweat because of how hot the apartment gets. None of us are sleeping well. It’s extremely frustrating and concerning as parents to be put in this situation while paying full rent.
We have called the office multiple times and submitted maintenance requests during these three weeks. Maintenance came once, said they would fix the issue, and then never came back. There has been no follow-up, no update, no temporary solution, and not even the courtesy of offering a portable air conditioner while we wait. We feel completely ignored.
What makes this even worse is that this is not the first time we’ve dealt with serious maintenance issues here. Our dishwasher was broken for almost two years before it was finally repaired — and that only happened about six months before we renewed our lease.
We pay our rent on time and fulfill our responsibilities as tenants, yet it feels like management has zero consideration for the residents who live here. Meanwhile, rent is still expected as if everything is perfectly fine while we’re living in an apartment that feels like an oven.
At this point, the situation has been so stressful and disappointing that we will absolutely not be renewing our lease. I’m writing this review because residents deserve to know what the reality of dealing with maintenance here is like.
The property itself might look nice, but if something goes wrong in your apartment, don’t expect urgency, communication, or real solutions. That has been our experience.
