Walnut Creek Apartments

I live at Walnut Creek Apartments, and they said they needed to do some maintenance on my unit to prepare for inspections. The maintenance was done while my wife, son, and I were staying the night at my in-laws' house. When we returned, we found our cat had been locked in the bathroom with no food, water, or litter box for 36 hours, without notifying us, and for no reason that they could explain. This apartment complex is the worst. The management is disorganized, it’s taken weeks for our maintenance orders to be fixed even though we keep calling the office, and in the six months that we’ve been here they’ve replaced their leasing specialist multiple times. The day that we signed our paperwork to move in we learned that the owner fired the entire previous management team and hired a new set. They just can’t hold on to people and they are not professional. Please do not believe the good… reviews. In our November newsletter they asked people to write a positive review and if the review stayed up 30 days or more they could potentially receive $250 off their next months rent. People are not motivated to tell the truth they’re motivated out of money. This place had a major bug problem, had to constantly do perimeter spray just to avoid spiders, beetles, and roaches from coming inside (and we were very clean too!). Getting something fixed was a hassle because most of the time it was a shortcut fix, meaning it didn't hold anyways. And taking to the front desk was a pain because they all had different answers to the same question. Leaving was a pain too. They weren't willing to work with our move out date at all. We had to pay extra to have the… carpets cleaned, which would have been pretty expensive, so when I asked what would happen if I chose not to have the carpets cleaned and just lose the deposit (which was not much more than the cost would have been anyways), they said that was all, no deposit. Low and behold, a month later and they are trying to get me to pay $73 to them. And instead of calling to explain or send a letter, they turned it over to a collection agency.
