Ongoing Habitability & Safety Issues 13 Days Without a Stove, Still Ignored

I’ve lived in Alpharetta for over 23 years, since my oldest daughter now a college graduate was in 2nd grade. I moved into The Ascent at Windward on December 15, 2024, expecting safe, functional housing. What I got was mold, leaks, broken appliances, and no accountability.

Within one week, black mold triggered an asthma flare. I’ve had asthma my entire life and submitted medical documentation, photos, and emails. It still took weeks and legal consultation just to be relocated. I was never...
reimbursed for the move or lease disruption.

But the second unit brought its own issues:
-I’ve now gone 13 days without a working stove — zero response.
- No airflow in the bedroom or bathroom during 85 degree days.
- Utility closet hazards: rusted pipes, standing water, disconnected dryer vent packed with lint, bowed filters caked in dust.
- Two leaks in May — one from the HVAC, one from the water heater.
-Lint and debris still push into the unit. No licensed HVAC tech has inspected anything — only unqualified grounds crew sent to close tickets.
- Preventative inspection in March missed it all — including a 2016 fire alarm failure and rusted plastic pipes “tightened” instead of replaced.

I’ve reported this repeatedly. Management (Carmen, Jeanne, Amanda, Tina) and regional staff (Lina, Lauren) have not responded to my May 22 emergency request. As of June 3, there’s still no stove. No fix. No accountability.

This is not luxury living. It’s performative maintenance and polished neglect.

Poor Management & Maintenance – Had to Buy My Own Fridge!

I moved into Ascent at Windward in November, and my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. The management and maintenance staff are completely irresponsible. My refrigerator has been broken for over a week, and despite multiple follow-ups, they have done nothing to resolve the issue.

Living without a working fridge is extremely inconvenient, and I was forced to buy a mini refrigerator just to store my essentials. Yet, the management shows no urgency or concern for their residents....
Their lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable.

If you’re considering moving here, beware—basic maintenance requests are ignored, and you’ll be left dealing with issues on your own. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a well-managed and responsive apartment community.

Living in this complex for 22 months

We have been living in this complex for 22 months, and I feel it's important to share my experience which I hope get that from real resident. They offer gift cards to residents who leave positive feedback, so I encourage you to read all reviews carefully:

1. Cockroaches: We’ve had cockroaches throughout our entire stay. The management only sends pest control randomly, and nothing ever gets resolved.
2. Overcharged Utility Bills: We are charged around $280 for utilities for two people every...
month, based on estimates. Both of us work full-time, and we even emailed the area manager (Lina) about this issue. She quickly blamed the previous community manager for the overcharges.
3. Gate Issues: The gate has been out of service about 80% of the time, leaving it open and unsecured.
4. Clubhouse Miscommunication: On the first day, we were told the clubhouse was free to use, with only an $80 deposit required. However, when we tried to use it, they told us we had to pay the full amount. They even locked the room, and we couldn’t even play billiards.
5. Utility Billing Issues: During the first year, they didn’t follow the contract terms and only invoiced utilities based on estimates. Whenever they needed more money, they would charge us more.
6. Trash Valet Problems: We had multiple issues with the trash valet service. When we raised concerns, they simply told us to call them. Additionally, trash valet was collected randomly, but we were still required to pay for the service.
7. Pool Issues: The pool was closed for 40 days during the peak summer season, allegedly because they were trying to obtain a certificate (according to them).
8. Pool Cleanliness: The pool was consistently dirty and was only cleaned once a week.
9. Poor Common Area Services: Services in common areas, such as the gym and pool, were consistently bad—either dirty or out of service.

Think two times and in long term before move here ...

Poor service

Zero maintenance high price. Very unfriendly staff. Most of the apartments are empty, people moving out due to new management.

worst Leasing agents.

I liked the apartment and started the application and I needed help with documents upload step and when I tried to reach out to leasing office they didn’t pick the call at all. And I sent a friend of mine to leasing office and got the email Id. I sent the email Id and then they increased the price by $284. And now they don’t help eventhough it was all their mistake.

Worst lease application process ever.
